Travelling with a Molluscs Allergy
Molluscs are not as commonly consumed in Indonesian or Balinese cuisine compared to other types of seafood like fish, shrimp, and crab. However, one of the most common ingredients for cooking in Indonesia is Oyster Sauce, known locally as “Saus Tiram”. Be careful to watch out for the following foods when eating in Bali:
Indonesian Cooking: Cap Cay (A Chinese-inspired stir-fry dish), Indonesian Spring roll (Lumpia), Stir-fried water spinach (Tumis Kangkung), Indonesian Snail (Tutut). May contain: Fried noodles (Mie Goreng), Fried rice (Nasi Goreng)
Ingredients found in other types of cuisines: Calamari, ethnic or international food, L’escargot, mussel dishes, scallops, soups, sauces, stews
